Thank You A’s

Just woke up in Melbourne to learn that MaggliO did it in the 9th. Nico and Athletics Nation sums it all up:

… I can keep thinking to myself as I ponder what it feels like to get swept in an LCS is that 26 teams didn’t have the chance.

I’m proud of the 2006 Oakland A’s. And I can’t wait for Spring Training, 2007.

Even if and when Zito leaves–and like Miggy, he’ll still be gold and green always–I still like these guys, Billy, his staff and our chances. Great season, big heart, best fans in the world.

As a Michigander, I’m loving what the Detroit Tigers have done this year. They literally went from zero to hero, and I respect that. I’m not much of a baseball fan, but I’ll definitely be watching the World Series this year.

I met you at University of Michigan last year, I’m a “hip-hop journalist,” for a lack of better terms, myself (check http://ketchums.blogspot.com/2006/03/people-talk-about-hip-hop-like-its_11.html for our picture together w/your book). I’ve tried to e-mail you at the address you gave me, but I haven’t been able to get a hold of you as of yet, so I thought I’d reach out to you through your blog. You told me to contact you if I could use any of your help, and I could really use some of your help regarding some journalism matters.

I’m about to send you another e-mail right now, but feel free to contact me through any of the information in the e-mail’s signature, or my blog, http://ketchums.blogspot.com

P.S.: Can’t wait for Total Chaos to hit the shelves!

Macha’s out…and the Phils hired Art Howe [as well as Jimy Williams and Davy Lopes.] Mgmt by committee next season!

I’ve gotta say that the A’s/Tigers series was a little anticlimactic. I fully expected a pitcher’s duel every night, and it simply didn’t materialize. I expect nothing different in the World Series.

whoa. between the earthquake and being halfway around the world, i’m not on top of things. thanks for this word.

i really hope we pick up ron washington. in fact, i expect he will be the favorite going in. i believe that was the situation last year, actually, although there was lots of behind-the-scenes, off-the-page politics happening. but this year, ownership prolly doesn’t want to see washington leave to texas or chicago.

this could signal a really interesting off-season for the a’s.

the world series may be just as one-sided. i’m leaning for the mets in the nlcs (if mulder was pitching it might be different), but it’s tigers all the way for me. underdog love, always.

what up will ketchum, holla! i’ll be back in the us in a couple weeks…
