The year was 1984. The MC was “master of ceremonies,” and DJ was the undisputed champion of sound… A show was a SHOW, and FRESH was the word that defined the experience. Now 808 Media and Kleome bring you “Fresh Is The Word,” with dope live shows, classic b-boy anthems and a return to good times, at the Bay Area’s newest and freshest venue, Poleng Lounge.

    ABOUT DJ APOLLO

World Famous DJ Apollo began DJing in 1983. An original turntable innovator, DJ Apollo invented the art of band turntablism in 1989 with Mix Master Mike, during their legendary “Peter Piper” routine. He was DMC U.S. and World champions in 1992, and received a Bay Guardian Goldie Award in 1993. DJ Apollo is an original co-founding member of the Invisbl Skratch Piklz, and was DJ for jazz legend Branford Marsalis’ Hip Hip Hop/Jazz fusion band, Buckshot LeFonque. Since then Apollo has established Triple Threat DJs with Shortkut and Vinroc. The three are among the most revered DJs in the world. With three world titles and over 45 years of live DJ experience between them, Triple Threat perpetrates an eclectic mix of genres with cutting edge turntable trickery, inciting instant dance floor madness. http://www.thetriplethreatdjs.com

    ABOUT KIRB AND CHRIS

Rapitalism Records is issuing an advisory alert. Discretion is a thing of the past. With the release of the uncompromising “Niggaz and White Girlz,” labelmates Kirby Dominant and Chris Sinister render their thugged-out interpretation of ’80s and new wave music featuring DJ Icewater. Kirb and Chris turn tracks from groups like The Cure, The Smiths, Depeche Mode, B-52s, U2, and Gary Numan into a non-stop soundtrack for New Wave Thuggin! http://www.kirbandchris.com.
